Why toasters?
Well, you can’t always choose your legacy.
Throughout our time at Algonquin College’s student agency, we became known as The Toaster Two after a creative pitch meeting that failed miserably. Our big idea was based around a toaster, though it had no relation to our client or their industry. We presented the idea with conviction and enthusiasm, but nothing could save it from being the colossal failure that it was. It was the equivalent of expecting to go to Coachella, and ending up at Fyre Fest.
It was a humbling experience and a complete failure, but we decided to embrace it as a part of who we are, because in order to innovate you must fail. We’re Jake and Shauna, a creative team starting out in the ad industry. While we might not be innovators just yet, we aren’t afraid of a little failure to get there.

Shauna Eyre
Jake likes to go against the grain. He’ll read sheet music while listening to audiobooks. Jake is a real renaissance man, which means he spends all his time on music, improv comedy, and creative writing instead of anything useful. Spontaneous song parodies are his specialty. Be warned: if you mention the Beatles, Rodney Dangerfield, or Nicolas Cage he will talk for hours.
Don’t let her youthful appearance fool you, Shauna is an old soul and a grandma at heart. She comes prepared to every meeting with a mason jar full of veggies and dip which she’s always willing to share. If she sees you throw plastic in the garbage, you will hear about it. Shauna’s always ready with a detailed lecture about the consequences of improper recycling, and she’s not shy about it.
